Project Art2Heart is a community service project helmed by SMU Arts & Cultural Fraternity (ACF). The project partners Metropolitan YMCA to improve the mental and physical wellness of seniors in Singapore. Leveraging club members’ talents and expertise in the arts, the project engages seniors through various art forms to help them stay active.
Through this initiative, the team supports the cognitive functions of socially isolated elderly individuals and provide them with more opportunities to connect with younger volunteers who can serve as their link to the larger community. At the same time, meeting and interacting with other elderly in the same stage of life, who might be facing similar challenges, helps them build a support system, thereby encouraging active ageing and fostering social connections.
